MARBLE CAKE via I-D

Nicole Maria Winkler submitted her marble backdrop shoot, inspired by the RCA students’ work, we said yes, through a mouthful of marbles. Here, Nicole explains her concept…

“The story was inspired by the Royal College of Art’s ‘Work in Progress’ exhibition. I liked the idea of putting garments that were “unfinished” or just conceptual starting points for a collection, into a fashion shoot. For me the marble backdrop brought another texture into the shoot that complemented the materials and fabrics used by the designers tying them all together. It reminded me of classical sculpture, an aspect also reflected in the simple and minimalist poses.”
